Otoplasty or Ear pin back
This operation is done to correct protruding ears. It mainly intends to bring back the separated part of the ear at its normal position and to restore natural shape if the ears are to be flat or is ill-drawn.
Every ear deformation which opens the auriclo-mastoid angle i.e. the hypertrophy of the conch, with defect of the cartilage plicature, which remains open, like a cabbage leaf.
The surgical operation can be practised as of the end of the growth of the ear, i.e. as soon as the age of 7 or 8 years old.
